The Steerswoman's Road is an omnibus edition of the Steerswoman series, including the first two volumes. Steerswomen, and a very few Steersmen, are members of an order dedicated to discovering and disseminating knowledge. Rosemary Kirstein's THE LANGUAGE OF POWER is a bit different, but after all is said and done, it is a worthy continuation of the very gripping saga she has been unfolding in the preceding books, beginning with THE STEERSWOMAN'S ROAD.

Get this from a library! The steerswoman. [Rosemary Kirstein; Richard Hescox] -- Rowan's search for knowledge of a mysterious jewel leads her to the forbidden lore of the wizards who guard the secret. The book should be coming out extremely soon with book six not too far behind it. Rosemary maintains a blog at her website where she keeps fans updated on the books as well as her other projects. There is a “secret project” that she has been hinting at for a long time as well as a young adult series set in the Steerswoman universe.

This book and its prequel, "The Steerswoman," are among my treasured the risk of giving spoilers, imagine a world that's nearly uninhabitable by man, filled with plants and animals inimical to earthkind. Now imagine a program for the terraforming of that world, a program that will take centuries if not millenia, involving first. The Books The Steerswoman () is the story of how Rowan and Bel become friends, investigate the secrets of the blue gems, hunted by wizards while chasing after knowledge.

It is the other side of tradition's contract -- and if you refuse the question, or lie, no steerswoman will ever again answer even your most casual. I read this novel as part of The Steerswoman's Road omnibus, which is the edition reflected in the metadata (except for the page count, which is just this novel).

Rowan is a steerswoman, a member of an order of traveling scholars in a world of generally medieval customs. This is a world of small villages and town blacksmiths, of swords, sailing ships, and lots of walking. Judging from the plot points that are set up in earlier Steerswoman books and pay off in later ones, it seems like you outlined the entire series before you started writing (or at least before you finished the first book).

Have there been cases where, when you got to a part (in book four or wherever), you changed your mind and had something.

A steerswoman's knowledge is shared with any who request it; no steerswoman may refuse a question, and no steerswoman may answer with anything but the truth. And if she asks, you must answer. It is the other side of tradition's contract -- and if you refuse the question, or lie, no steerswoman will ever again answer even your most casual question/5(19).

The best parts of the first two books remain strong—Rowan puzzling out aspects of her world and dealing with attacks as they come—but there is an added interpersonal puzzle with the introduction of the titular character, who enters under the Steerswoman’s ban, plus the introduction of an absolutely delightful new character in Steffie/5.
